Community Foundation grants $1000 to Snow Hill Ecumenical Food Pantry

The Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore (CFES) has awarded a $1,000 Emergency Assistance Grant to the Snow Hill Ecumenical Food Pantry (SHFP). The funds will be used to purchase vital food and pantry supplies to meet critical emergency needs for residents living in the greater Snow Hill region.

As a partner with the Maryland Food Bank, the Snow Hill food pantry currently distributes 300 bags of nonperishable and frozen food monthly, some of the food is purchased at a discount from the state food bank. Food distributions at SHFP take place on the second Friday every month.

To better meet the growing needs to serve the food-insecure, the SHFP has moved to a new location at 241 S. Washington St. in Snow Hill. The new SHFP location is currently undergoing renovation to accommodate a planned expansion of food pantry outreach, as hunger spreads well beyond the estimated 150 people served each month by the nonprofit agency.
