Community Foundation Scholarships Assist Area Students with Rising College Costs

This summer the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore awarded almost $368,000 in scholarships to over 300 students in the region. The Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore administers more than 140 scholarship funds that provide financial assistance for college students throughout the Lower Eastern Shore of Maryland.

“Helping young people here on the Lower Shore fulfill their dreams and realize their full potential is among the highest of the Community Foundation’s goals,” said BJ Summers, Director of Development and Donor Relations.

Some of the Foundation’s scholarships are available for students in particular high schools designated by the donors, while others target specific college majors or professional careers. Most Foundation scholarships do not limit students to a particular course of study, but scholarships are available specifically for students wishing to pursue careers in teaching, architecture, engineering or healthcare.
