Ribbon Cutting Marks Opening of CFES Nonprofit Support Center

A ribbon cutting ceremony today officially opened new offices and a Nonprofit Support Center for the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore (CFES) in Salisbury’s East Park Professional Center. The new facility provides CFES with a permanent home that will enable the Foundation to further expand its services to nonprofit organizations in Somerset, Wicomico and Worcester Counties.

“This new facility is the result of years of planning and consideration for the needs of the community by current and past members of the Foundation’s Board of Directors,” said Gregory L. Stein, Chairman of the Board. “We are all very excited by the results and hope the community will visit the new offices and make use of these significantly expanded facilities.”

Dr. Spicer Bell, Foundation President, stated, “This is not only the site of our new offices but also houses the Eastern Shore’s Nonprofit Support Center which will allow the Foundation to expand services to area charities with an on-site Nonprofit Resource Center as well as conference and meeting facilities.”

Bell added, “The Nonprofit Support Center will provide local nonprofit organizations with a one-stop resource for computer research, information, meetings and conferences and will allow the Foundation to grow and support more nonprofit organizations in new ways.”

The new facilities occupy about 5,000 sq. ft of an office building adjacent to westbound US 50 between two streets that both provide access to the offices, Beaglin Park Drive and Civic Avenue. The offices are fully handicapped accessible and there is on-site parking for at least 40 vehicles with access to additional parking. The new facility will provide the latest technology, including internet access and visual and audio systems to accommodate presentations. The on-site Nonprofit Resource Center also provides charities with the most extensive comprehensive library for nonprofits on the Eastern Shore, including computer access for researching grants and other information that specifically benefits nonprofit organizations.

The Community Foundation will also utilize the Nonprofit Support Center to conduct workshops and provide consulting services to help nonprofits in all areas of operation including staff development and training.

The Community Foundation of the Eastern shore has been an effective steward of the Community’s charitable resources since 1984, inspiring philanthropy in the Maryland Counties of Somerset, Wicomico and Worcester.
