The Eastern Shore Medical Group Manager’s Association (ESMGMA) may be dissolving its organization, but the group took one last opportunity to assist those in need. ESMGMA chose to donate the remaining $8,964.34 cash balance of its checking account to the Help Your Neighbor Fund at the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore.

The Help Your Neighbor Fund provides assistance to local organizations which aid people struggling to meet basic human needs during a time of crisis. Grants from this fund assist with food, shelter, prescriptions, and other critical needs. Donations ensure that local residents receive the support they need when they need it the most.

“As medical professionals, ESMGMA members are constantly helping others,” says Erica Joseph, President of CFES. “It is very fitting that their final act as an organization will be to helping those in crisis situations.”

ESMGMA was chartered in January of 1998 for the purpose of facilitating both networking and educational opportunities among medical practices on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. For years, it thrived with monthly luncheon meetings and educational programs. The Executive Committee of ESMGMA decided in early 2016 that due to ongoing attendance challenges, it was time to dissolve the legal formation of ESMGMA and assist a worthy recipient with the organization’s remaining funds.

Contributions to the Help Your Neighbor Fund are 100% tax deductible, and all funding remains in Somerset, Wicomico and Worcester Counties. For more information about the fund or how you can get involved visit www.CFES.org.
