The Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore (CFES) has awarded a $3,000 Excellence In Education Grant to the Pinehurst Elementary School’s playground project which broke ground in late October. Volunteers have raised over $70,000 for new playground equipment that will be more accessible to students with special needs. Additional contributions totaling $10,000 to $15,000 are needed to cover the cost of the new playground. The Community Foundation challenges the community to meet the shortfall with contributions before construction of the playground is completed.
