GIVE YOUR WAY

As your concierge of philanthropy, we offer many different options for giving, and work with you to tailor strategies to your specific situation. We will help navigate your giving journey and find the perfect fit. We recognize that life experiences shape our charitable passions, and our team has a variety of ways to work with donors to achieve their philanthropic goals. Together, we can customize a fund for you.

DONOR-ADVISED FUNDS

Think of this as your personal foundation or philanthropic checkbook. Support causes that matter to you when and where it is convenient for you. These charitable giving accounts can by created by individuals, families and organizations.

SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS

Fuel the dreams of higher education. Our scholarship funds are created by individuals, families, and organizations who wish to memorialize a loved one, encourage a certain field of study, or want to extend a helping hand for college-bound students. Designed to endure through sound investment, the scholarship will continue on year after year without the need for ongoing fundraising. Alternatively, you may choose to continually add to your fund, growing the amount available to students.

AGENCY & NONPROFIT FUNDS

Established by nonprofits to help provide future income, agency funds are a simple and efficient way to create sustainability. A portion of the earnings is distributed to your organization when requested, providing financial support in perpetuity. These long-term funds allow an agency to take advantage of the Community Foundation’s financial management, administrative resources, and expertise.

DESIGNATED FUNDS

Are you inspired to give back to an organization that is close to your heart? These permanent funds provide annual support to the charity or charities of your choice, ensuring financial support for  the designated nonprofit agency into the future.

COMMUNITY NEEDS FUNDS

Among the most flexible forms of giving, these funds allow CFES to respond to immediate and emerging community needs over time. Because these funds are not restricted to a specific organization or cause, the potential impact is unlimited.

FIELD OF INTEREST FUNDS

Support the causes and issues you care deeply about. This type of funding allows you to champion distinct areas of interests (for example, education, human services, health, the arts, and animal welfare,) without naming a specific nonprofit organization. Donors choose a charitable focus area and CFES awards grants to nonprofits meeting the need.

Creative Giving Options

Cash

The easiest way to contribute, whether by check, credit card, or actual cash. Donors who make gifts of cash are eligible for a charitable deduction in the year the gift is made.

Appreciated Property

Real estate, appreciated securities, and closely held stock are all suitable gifts and may be deductible as a charitable contribution. Capital gains taxes can be avoided in most cases, and deductions can be taken immediately and carried for up to five years.

Legacy & Estate Gifts

Plan now, give later, by including a gift in your will. Bequests can take the form of a specific item (such as a home), a specific amount of money, or a portion of your estate (including retirement funds or a life insurance policy.)  A properly structured gift can help mitigate estate tax liability, provide a legacy, and preserve charitable intent.

Life Income Plans

Life income plans, such as charitable gift annuities, provide an immediate charitable deduction, income for life, and a future gift to a charitable fund. Structured appropriately, life income plans can also reduce or eliminate capital gains on gifts of appreciated property and reduce your taxable estate.

SOCIETY

The Legacy Society recognizes those who have informed CFES that they have included a gift to the Foundation in their will or through some other deferred giving plan. Through their planned gifts, members contribute to the growth of the Foundation’s permanent endowment and by their example, encourage others to do the same.

Legacy Society members are recognized in the Foundation’s Annual Report, in other communications to donors, and at Foundation events throughout the year.  Legacy Society members enjoy all benefits extended to current donors by the Foundation.

To learn more about membership, contact B.J. Summers, Director of Development and Donor Relations, at 410-742-9911 or bjsummers@cfes.org or complete and return the Membership Form.
