The Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore presents three awards annually. These awards honor distinguished nonprofits, volunteers, and humanitarians in the Lower Shore community. We accept nominations until September 1 of each year for the following awards:
Richard A. Henson Award for Nonprofit Excellence
In 1989 the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore established the Richard A. Henson Award for Nonprofit Excellence in recognition of Mr. Henson’s deep involvement with, and commitment to, community needs, and his contributions to our community.
The Award may be presented annually to a nonprofit organization, within the tri-county region, which has implemented a program or project that has made an outstanding contribution to the well-being of residents of the Lower Eastern Shore. Nominees for the Award should, notably, through their actions, exemplify the spirit of excellence, which filled the life of Richard A. Henson.
Frank H. Morris
The Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore established the Frank H. Morris Humanitarian Award to recognize Frank Morris’ lifelong dedication to humanitarian ideals and to perpetuate the high ethical, moral, and professional standards and devotion to human values, which epitomized his life.
The Frank H. Morris Humanitarian Award may be presented annually to an individual who has made outstanding, sustained, and unselfish contributions to community enrichment, and whose vital ideas and personal sacrifices exemplify the ideal of service to our community, which the life of Frank Morris represents.
Mary Gladys Jones
Volunteer of the Year Award
The Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore encourages citizens to help meet community needs through service and volunteerism. We commend and recognize the achievements, sacrifices, successes, and commitments of the many volunteers serving in the Tri-County area and through this nomination process will seek out individuals who exemplify the spirit of volunteerism.
The Mary Gladys Jones Volunteer of the Year Award will be presented annually to an individual who has made outstanding, sustained, and unselfish contributions to community service.
