Welcome to the ShoreCAN Volunteer Center, your essential resource for volunteerism in Somerset, Wicomico, and Worcester counties in Maryland!

We make it easy for individuals, families, and groups to share time, talents, and skills. With our support, volunteers can search for local opportunities, and non-profits can post their current needs. Our mission is to engage citizens to help meet community needs through service and volunteerism.

Coming this February!

The ShoreCAN Volunteer Center is upgrading from our 1-800-volunteer.org platform to a new platform powered by HandsON Connect.  To make the transition, our volunteer portal will be down from February 14 till February 17.

What does that mean to you? It means your experience online will be more productive and engaging. HandsOn Connect lets you pin point a volunteer opportunity that fits your schedule and your interests.

Just how “pin pointed” are we talking about? Let’s say you have Wednesday afternoons available for volunteering, AND you’d like to work on an environmental project, AND you’d like to bring your children along to participate. With HandsOn Connect, you can specify all those requirements and find an opportunity near you that fits.

Once you’ve completed a project you can rate your experience, give us feedback or share your story through the social networking tools directly linked to HandsOn Connect.

Check back on February 18th for our new system, and watch your email for directions on accessing your new account.
