The Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore was selected as one of the first 10 foundations nationwide to participate in Partners Investing in Nursing's Future (PIN) a national initiative of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Northwest Health Foundation to develop and test grassroots solutions to America's nursing shortage. To help develop solutions and lead efforts within the region, the Community Foundation was awarded a two-year grant of $250,000 in September 2006.
The local Partners in Nursing Program is a collaborative effort to develop and sustain a regional nurse mentoring program in an effort to retain nurses at the bedside and support new nurse leaders.
