Youth Foundation Grants Over $4,000

The Youth Foundation Fund recently awarded $4,000 in grants to programs benefiting area youth.

YOUTH FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES 2008 GRANTS
$4,000 awarded for lower shore youth programs

            The Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore’s Youth Foundation Fund has awarded $4,000 to help serve the needs of local youth through its 2008 grant program. Grants were recently awarded to the following organizations:
 
•   Maple Shade Youth and Family Services ( Wicomico County) was awarded $1,250 to support the construction of a basketball court to provide physical activity, team building and fun for special needs children, ages 8-10, residing in Maple Shade treatment facilities.
 
•   Agape Project, Inc. ( Worcester County) - was awarded $1,000 to support the After-School Agape program to provide a safe place for children of single parents living in the Bay Street area of Berlin
 
•   4 Steps Therapeutic Riding Program ( Lower Eastern Shore) – was awarded $750 to provide scholarships for children with disabilities in the Summer 2008 Riding Program.
 
•   The Town of Princess Anne ( Somerset) – was awarded $1,000 to support educational supplies and materials for Project Speak, an educational leadership program conducted through a partnership of the Hayward Youth Center/Seton Center.
 
            Each year high school students from the Tri-County region volunteer to serve on the Youth Foundation Advisory Committee.  The Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore is a charitable foundation serving Somerset, Wicomico and Worcester Counties.
 
            In the fall efforts are devoted to a Koins 4 Kids fund raiser which benefits the Youth Foundation Endowment Fund.  Each spring grants are awarded from the endowment to programs benefiting area youth.
