Youth Foundation Fund Seeks Volunteers

The Youth Foundation of the Community Foundation of the
Eastern Shore is seeking members from public high schools in Somerset, Wicomico and Worcester counties for the 2008-09 academic year. High school students from throughout the Lower Eastern Shore serve on the Youth Foundation Advisory Committee, which oversees a fund of $65,000 dedicated to youth programs on the
Lower Eastern Shore .
The committee is represented by students from the public and private high schools in
Somerset , Wicomico and
Worcester
Counties . Any high school sophomore, junior or senior who is interested on serving on the Youth Foundation Fund during the academic year beginning in the fall should contact Erica Joseph, Foundation Program Officer, at 410-742-9911.
High School students from public and private schools on the Lower Eastern Shore of
Maryland participate in fund raising and grant making for the Youth Foundation Fund. “The Community Foundation established this fund seven years ago as a hands-on way for area youth to learn about the importance of endowments and the rewards of charitable giving while helping other youth,” said
Spicer Bell , Foundation President.
The Youth Foundation Fund is one of the Community Foundation’s Field of Interest funds. It supports projects which motivate children by building self-confidence; increases youth awareness of the need to help underprivileged children; assists underprivileged children in participating in academic, social and cultural opportunities and encourages and rewards academic excellence by youth.
