The Wicomico Public Library Board
of Directors recently established an endowment fund at the Community Foundation
of the Eastern Shore. This Fund will
benefit library programs and services in perpetuity.
Tom Hehman, Director, Wicomico Public
Library, stated that the “Wicomico Public Library is proud to partner with the
Community Foundation. We believe that by
doing this, we are adding another layer of quality services that go beyond the
minimum.”
“We look forward to working with
the Wicomico Public Library to build an endowment that helps meet the
community’s needs forever,” added Spicer Bell, President, Community Foundation
of the Eastern Shore.
Additionally, the Community
Foundation provides support to the library through the Susan Lee Todd Endowment
that supports the purchase of books and audiovisual aids for the library’s
children’s section, and the Anna G. Seidel Endowment for nonfiction books and
books considered to be classics. The
Donald and Barbara Cummins Fund provides annual support for the Library.
Contributions to the new library
fund can be made by the general public.
Anyone wishing to support the library with a gift can send their
donation to the Community Foundation with specific instructions that it go to
the Wicomico Public Library Fund.
Continuing a strong tradition of
philanthropy on the Lower Shore, the Community Foundation is the steward for more
than 500 such funds established by local individuals, businesses, civic
organizations and local nonprofits that support charitable activities across a broad
spectrum of interests.
