Sinepuxent Lodge 193 AF&FM establishes endowment
January 28, 2008
A permanent endowment fund to help preserve and maintain Snow Hill’s Sinepuxent Lodge 193 AF&AM in perpetuity has been established at the Community Foundation of the
Eastern Shore .
The Masonic Lodge in Snow Hill was chartered in 1893 and has been serving the community ever since. The new endowment fund will ensure that the current Masonic building and grounds, erected on
Belt Street in 1993, are maintained forever.
Charles McWilliams, secretary-treasurer of the Lodge, notes that local Masons have a long tradition of quietly working behind the scenes, “to support our community and country.” The Masons in Snow Hill also make an annual award to a graduating senior of
Snow
Hill
High School through another Community Foundation endowment, the Sinepuxent Lodge 193 AF & AM & Worcester Chapter #102, Order of the Eastern Star Scholarship Fund.
The Masonic Lodge also makes contributions to
U.S. troops overseas, provides for necessities for the needy during the Christmas holidays and supports a wide spectrum of charitable needs in the community throughout the year.”
“By having a permanent endowment fund for Lodge maintenance at the Community Foundation, this will leave more of the money we generate to be available for charity and for our scholarship fund,” McWilliams added.
