What Others Say:
"The ShoreCAN Volunteer Center was able to help Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Lower Eastern Shore place two children on our waiting list with volunteer mentors this month! I wish I could show the big smiles and excitement I saw when they met their new friend for the first time!"

Seidel Reading Forever Grants Top $5,700
January 19, 2010

This month a record $5,717 will be granted to public and nonpublic schools in Wicomico County from the Samuel W. Seidel Memorial Reading Forever Endowment Fund to purchase books for their students.

The Seidel Reading Forever Endowment is a charitable fund of the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore.  Since the fund began making grants in 1994, a total of $83,868 has been distributed to schools in Wicomico County for the purchase of books for libraries and class room collections other than text books.

The Reading Forever Fund was established by a gift from Samuel W. and Marilyn C. Seidel to, “instill and foster a love of reading among the youth of Wicomico County,” by providing annual grants to schools that serve grades K through 12 that participate in the Reading Forever program.  The fund distributes grants annually each January during National Book Month.
