What Others Say:
Words cannot express my humbleness and extreme gratitude of having received the Richard & Patricia Hazel Minority Scholarship which was awarded to me these past four years.  The Community Foundation has been a blessing to me, and I thank you for being there for all others who will follow me.  Thanks for helping me achieve my dream, and I will continue to work at reaching higher goals.

Nominations Sought for Educational Leadership Award
August 3, 2009

The Community Foundation is seeking nominations for its annual Educational Leadership Award.  This award recognizes principals, vice principals, and other educational leaders who go above and beyond for their school, students, and community and includes a cash grant to the recipient’s school.  Nominations must be received by September 4, 2009, and may be submitted by parents, PTA’s, teachers, or school board members.

Additionally, all public and private schools on Maryland’s Lower Eastern Shore are eligible to apply for grants of up to $5,000 from the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore’s Excellence in Education Grants Program.

Individual grant amounts will likely range from $500 to $5000 and will support public and private schools in the counties of Somerset, Wicomico, and Worcester.  All applications must be submitted by September 4th to be considered for Foundation education awards.

Grants will be awarded to those schools that demonstrate, through innovative and creative programs, a particularly meritorious concern for their students and their communities.  Grants will be awarded during American Education Week in November.

Copies of grant guidelines and application forms are available upon request by calling 410-742-9911 or by writing to The Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore, Inc., 1324 Belmont Avenue, Suite 401, Salisbury, Maryland 21804. Grant applications are also available on the Foundation’s website.
