New Scholarship For Students Seeking Healthcare Career

A new endowment fund at the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore established by Dr. Alfred and Ruth Beattie of
Salisbury , offers qualified college students from
Wicomico
County the opportunity to apply for a $2,000 scholarship to pursue a degree in a healthcare related field of study.
Applicants for a scholarship award from the Dr. Alfred and Ruth Beattie Healthcare Careers Scholarship Fund must have graduated from a public or private high school in Wicomico County and successfully completed at least one year and completed at least one year of undergraduate study in college in an eligible program.
Scholarships may be awarded for multiple years subject to satisfactory academic progress in college. Students with the greatest financial need and strong ties to the Eastern Shore of Maryland will be given priority consideration in the awarding of the scholarship. Scholarships will not be awarded for students enrolled for pre-medical or pre-dental preparation programs.
College students from
Wicomico
County may apply regardless of where they attend college by visiting the Community Foundation’s website at: www.cfes.org. Completed applications must be submitted by no later than April 1, 2009 to be considered for a scholarship award from the Beattie scholarship fund.
The Community Foundation manages over 80 endowed scholarship funds and during fiscal year 2008 awarded $185,000 in scholarships to over 100 students.
