Local Groups to Sponsor Lower Shore's First Volunteer Fair
July 12, 2010
The region’s first-ever "Volunteer Fair" will be sponsored by
the Community Foundation’s ShoreCAN Volunteer Center at Wor-Wic
Community College on Saturday, September 25th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The purpose of the event is to connect people who are
interested in volunteering with local nonprofit organizations. Local
nonprofit and community organizations will be on hand to highlight
programs and ways to get involved.
ShoreCAN is pleased to be partnering with the following
organizations for this event: Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore
(CFES); Junior Achievement of the Eastern Shore; RSVP; Salisbury
University Volunteer Center; MAC, Inc.; United Way of the Lower Eastern
Shore; ShoreCorps/PALS Americorps Program; Worcester County Volunteer
Services; and Wor-Wic Community College. Delmarva Power is sponsoring
this event.
"Local volunteers are vitally important in building a better
community," said Spicer Bell, CFES President. "The Volunteer Fair will
be an excellent opportunity to connect people who want to volunteer with
meaningful opportunities to serve."
Erica Joseph, CFES Program Officer, noted, "The Volunteer
Fair will provide an ideal setting for local charitable organizations to
recruit new volunteers and showcase the services these nonprofits
provide to the community."
Nonprofit organizations who
wish to be exhibitors at the Volunteer Fair can access registration
materials at www.cfes.org, or contact Joseph at
