December 15, 2008
HALO - Hope and Life Outreach, Inc., a nonprofit ministry based in Salisbury that serves the needs of the homeless, or people at risk of being homeless, recently established a permanent endowment fund to benefit their organization at the Community Foundation. Pictured signing the documents establishing the fund are Celeste Savage, HALO Executive Director and Spicer Bell, Foundation President.
An endowment fund was recently established at the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore to benefit HALO - Hope and Life Outreach, Inc., a nonprofit ministry based in
Salisbury that helps to serve the needs of the homeless, or people at risk of being homeless in this region.
HALO guides and mentors people who are currently homeless, or at risk of homelessness, including individuals who are disabled, elderly, or veterans. Many of the clients served by the nonprofit are women and children.
Celeste Savage, Executive Director, explained that HALO works with their clients to offer services at no charge to help individuals and families establish stability and regain independence.
Volunteers and staff work together to identify the causes that have contributed to making their clients homeless, or at risk of becoming homeless. HALO then works with each client to methodically create a support network of services with a focus on helping them to obtain stability in the community and ultimately become self-supporting residents.
The nonprofit ministry also operates a Bargan Store adjacent to HALO’s administrative offices in the commercial center just off
Tilghman Road . HALO serves the tri-county area of
Somerset , Wicomico and
Worcester .
During the next four weeks HALO will be the featured nonprofit on the “Community Foundation Spotlight” program broadcast on PAC 14 TV. For a programming schedule of air times the program will be broadcast, please visit http://www.pac14.org
