Foundation Sponsors Scholarships For Lower Shore Nonprofits
September 15, 2008
The Community Foundation’s Nonprofit Scholarship Program is now accepting applications from local charitable groups for select continuing education classes at Wor-Wic Community College.

The Nonprofit Scholarship Program is offered in partnership with Wor-Wic’s Continuing Education and Workforce Development Department and focuses specifically on the needs of nonprofit staff and volunteers to provide opportunities to enhance their organizational capacity through technical assistance and professional development.

Scholarships are awarded to a wide range of nonprofit organizations serving Somerset, Wicomico and Worcester Counties that benefit health and human services, education, arts and culture, community affairs, environmental conservation and historic preservation.

The Community Foundation has granted over 200 scholarships to local nonprofits since the inception of the program in 2004.  Scholarships covering tuition and fees are currently available for 20 select courses. All applications should be received by the Foundation at least 10 days prior to the start of classes for the fall semester.

The Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore is a charitable public foundation dedicated to improving the quality of life for residents of Somerset, Wicomico and Worcester Counties by building charitable endowments, maximizing benefits to donors, making effective grants and providing leadership in addressing community needs.
