Foundation Sponsors Form 990 Seminar for Nonprofits
January 13, 2009
Local charities and nonprofit organizations will learn about new filing requirements for the newly redesigned IRS Form 990 at a seminar hosted by the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore on Tuesday, January 27 at the Foundation’s Nonprofit Support Center in Salisbury.

The seminar will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Registration is free, but advanced registration is required on a first-come, first-served basis.  Form 990 is required for IRS filings for organizations exempt from income tax.  The new version of the form is required for filings for tax year 2008 and beyond.

This seminar will focus on the changes that have occurred with special emphasis on what nonprofit organizations must now do to ensure that the new 990 can be completed both accurately and efficiently. The class is intended for independent auditors and managers, financial professionals working for nonprofit organizations and persons involved in their financial governance.

This is one of a series of training sessions offered by the Community Foundation that are sponsored by PNC Bank. Anyone wishing to register for the Form 990 seminar should contact the Community Foundation by phone at 410-742-9911 or visit www.cfes.org.
