Foundation Grants Available to Support Volunteer Efforts
February 1, 2010
Two new grant programs are available from the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore that both encourage volunteerism in support of local nonprofit organizations.
The first grant program supports and encourages local nonprofits, faith-based and community programs to get involved in community clean-up and neighborhood improvement activities during National Volunteer Week (April 18-24, 2010).
The National Volunteer Week Technical Assistance Program will provide grants from $100 to $500 to purchase supplies and materials to support the community improvement projects conducted during National Volunteer Week. The deadline for applications is Monday, March 15th and grants will be awarded no later than April 1st.
The second grant program supports area organizations interested in recruiting “Make A BIG Difference (MABD) Teams” which consist of cadres of individuals, aged 50 or above, who come together to address an important issue in the community.
The projects implemented by the MABD teams must completed by December 1, 2010. Typical grants under this program will range from $500 to $1,500. Host organizations who will receive the grant must manage the MABD project. The deadline for applications is Monday, March 15th and grants will be awarded by May 1st.
Nonprofit organizations located in and providing services for residents of Somerset, Wicomico and Worcester Counties are eligible to apply for either of these grant programs. Both grant programs are made possible by the generous support of The Atlantic Philanthropies and the Community Experience Partnership Program (www.ceplearning.org).
More information on both new programs, and applications, are available in our Grants section.
