Foundation Awards $47,592 for Community Needs
March 9, 2009

A total of $47,592 in community needs grants were recently awarded to local nonprofit organizations by the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore.

Grants were distributed to nine organizations as a result of the Foundation’s winter Community Needs Grant Program.  The next deadline for application is April 1, 2009.

“We are pleased to see these worthwhile nonprofit organizations receive funding,” said Spicer Bell, Foundation President.  “We are grateful for the support of so many donors who make it possible for the Foundation to provide valuable support to the community. During the current economic climate it is more important than ever that the Foundation be able to support the work of these organizations and respond to growing needs in the region,” Bell added.

  • Shore Up! (Wicomico) - $6,000 to provide free tax preparation and electronic filing for federal and state income taxes for low and moderate income families.
  • Coastal Hospice (Lower Eastern Shore) - $6,000 to support efforts to bring a residential hospice facility to Worcester County.
