Foundation Awards $2,000 Grant to Support Wicomico Library Live Concert Series
Last Free Fall Concert Scheduled for November 12, 2010
October 25, 2010
Spicer Bell, president of The Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore, recently presented Tom Hehman, Wicomico Public Library director, with a $2,070 Community Needs grant to support the Friday Night Live Free Concert Series.  In its 4th season, the concert series brings a wide range of local and regional performances to the main branch of the library.

“After downtown Salisbury was designated an Arts & Entertainment district we knew we wanted to be a part of bringing people to the downtown area,” said Tom Hehman, library director.  “The library holds programs for people of all ages and when we looked at the success of our programs, we realized that our music programs brought in the largest crowds.”

As a co-sponsor of the live concert series, the Community Foundation grant will help fund the program into spring, 2011.  Other sponsors of Friday Night Live include the Peter and Judy Jackson Music Performance Fund and the Salisbury Wicomico Arts Council.

“We are proud to support local arts programs that expose community members to some of the talent that is right here on the shore,” said Spicer Bell, president, Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore.  “From Jazz to Classical to Big Band, this performance series has something to offer to everyone.”

The Delmarva Big Band is scheduled to perform for the final fall concert on November 12 at 7:00pm in room 1 (enter via Circle Avenue) at the Wicomico County Library in downtown Salisbury.  The spring concert series will run from March to May, 2011.

The deadline for a second cycle of Community Needs Grants is February 1, 2011.  Copies of grant guidelines and application forms are available upon request by calling 410-742-9911, or visit the “For Nonprofits” section online at www.cfes.org.
