Excellence In Education Seeks Applications
July 30, 2008

Lower Shore schools may apply for $30,000 in potential grants

All public and private schools on Maryland’s Lower Eastern Shore are eligible to apply for up to $30,000 in grants from the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore’s Excellence in Education Grants Program. All applications must be submitted by September 5th to be considered for Foundation education awards.

Individual grant amounts will likely range from $500 to $5000 and will support public and private schools in the counties of Somerset, Wicomico and Worcester.  Grants will be awarded to those schools that demonstrate, through innovative and creative programs, a particularly meritorious concern for their students and their communities.

The Community Foundation also will award an Educational Leadership Award to recognize principals, vice principals and other educational leaders who have made outstanding, sustained and unselfish contributions to their school and its students, faculty and community. The deadline for nominations for the Educational Leadership Award is September 19th.

Grants will be awarded during American Education Week in November.  Copies of grant guidelines and application forms are available upon request by calling 410-742-9911 or by writing to The Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore, Inc., 1324 Belmont Avenue, Suite 401, Salisbury, Maryland 21804. Grant applications are also available on the Foundation’s website: www.cfes.org.
