The Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore announces that they are matching Arthur W. Perdue Foundation’s $10 donation for every time a Shorebirds pitcher strikes out an opposing batter this season making each strikeout worth $20.00!

All of the money raised will be distributed to the three local Delmarva food banks.

“By partnering with Perdue and the Delmarva Shorebirds this season, we have a real opportunity to increase the community’s awareness of hunger in Delmarva and to get this region involved in helping our food banks,” stated Spicer Bell, President, Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore.

In addition to challenging the Shorebirds pitchers to strikeout opposing batters, the Community Foundation invites organization and business participants who utilize the Foundation’s Nonprofit Support Center for meetings and trainings to bring a canned food item.  Donations can be dropped into a Maryland Food Bank food barrel located in the Foundation’s front lobby.

The Community Foundation urges local companies and organizations to support the Strike Out Hunger campaign, as well by placing a food barrel at their place of business!

Also, the Community Foundation’s ShoreCAN Volunteer Center will be engaging volunteer efforts throughout the campaign.  ShoreCAN currently has a database of over 300 volunteers and 150 nonprofits.
