Community Foundation Announces New Membership to Board of Directors
New board members bring strong community leadership to foundation board
November 8, 2011
The Community Foundation of the
Eastern Shore welcomes two new members to its board of directors following formal
announcement at the Foundation’s Annual Meeting Friday, November 4th at The
Fountains Conference Center in Salisbury.
The following two new board members
were elected to serve a three-year term:
Dr. Carolyn Johnston is the
Supervisor of Reading for the Wicomico County Public School System. Actively involved in the community, Carolyn
is an associate member of the Junior Board of PRMC, she serves on the Fruitland
Community Center Board of Directors, is active in the Wicomico Mentoring
Program, and is a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit in Ocean City. Carolyn was named one of Maryland’s Top 100
Women by The Daily Record in 2007 and 2009 that recognizes professional
success, community leadership, mentoring, and other contributions being made by
women throughout the state to better their communities. Carolyn lives in Salisbury with her husband
Bill.

According to Johnston, “I am
excited to be a part of the Board of Directors of the Community Foundation
whose first priority is to help the lower Eastern Shore become a better place
through its richest asset, its people.”
Mike Truitt is a Senior Financial
Advisor for Merrill Lynch. He serves on
the Worcester Preparatory School Board of Directors, is the Atlantic Methodist
Church Finance Committee Chairman, a member of the University of Maryland Terrapin
Club, and past President of the Salisbury Lion’s Club. Mike lives in Bishopville with his wife Beth
and their two children.

this outstanding organization,” states Truitt. “I look forward to helping the Foundation enrich our community and our
citizen’s lives.”

the benefit of a strong and active Board of Directors throughout its 27 year
