Chairman's Fund Grants Help Shore Nonprofits
April 27, 2009

Grants totaling $1,500 were recently distributed to three local nonprofits from the Chairman’s Fund of the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore.

Grants distributed through the Chairman’s Fund enables the Foundation to respond to unexpected or emergency needs of local nonprofits that can not be anticipated through traditional grant programs.

Chairman’s Fund grants were distributed to:

  • Seton Center Catholic Charities - Awarded a Chairman’s Fund grant of $500 to help pay for restocking the center’s food pantry after a pipe broke in the pantry ceiling ruining many food stocks in storage.
  • Green Gate Farm - Awarded a Chairman’s Fund grant of $500 for a program that reaches out to local veterans who are returning from tours of duty where the military is engaged in combat. The program helps them to deal with increased stress and anxiety, build a support network and helps them navigate career demands following their return home.
  • Samaritan Ministries - Awarded a Chairman’s Fund grant of $500 to help purchase sheets, towels and blankets for the new Women’s and Children’s facility at the Samaritan Shelter in Pocomoke City.
