The Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore’s Carol Steffy Spirit of Esther Fund contributed $643.00 to Pets on Wheels of Delmarva, Inc., a local pet therapy program.

Founded in 1993 by a group of dedicated individuals, Pets on Wheels of Delmarva, Inc. has grown to encompass the entire Eastern Shore.  The volunteer teams of humans and their animals provide companionship and comfort by sharing their pets with residents of nursing homes and other facilities.

Eastern Shore resident Carol Steffy has created a fund at the Community Foundation to encourage volunteerism and visitation in local nursing homes and senior centers.  The Fund was established by Steffy in memory of her mother, Esther Sinnott Moore.

According to Ruth Renkenberger, Executive Director, Pets on Wheels of Delmarva, Inc., “We truly appreciate Carol’s generous donation.  The Carol Steffy Spirit of Esther Fund will allow us to promote the importance of our volunteer teams and how vital our canine companions are to the patients of our local nursing homes and other senior centers we visit.”
