CFES Accepts $10,000 from LORA for Scholarship Endowment Fund
“Tastes for Tomorrow” scholarship fund to support students seeking careers in culinary arts and hospitality field
October 22, 2012
Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore (CFES) accepted $10,000 from the Local Owner Restaurant Association (LORA), an organization that established a scholarship fund in their name through the Foundation earlier this year.  LORA raises money for their scholarship program through annual events like the “Tastes for Tomorrow” Gala and generous donations from individuals and businesses.  The fund at the Foundation helps to ensure that LORA’s current fundraising efforts will provide scholarships in perpetuity to deserving local students.

LORA provides local students with $1,000 scholarships to pursue higher education with a focus in the culinary arts and hospitality field.

David Wharton, President of LORA and owner of Cakes by David states that “we want to see kids going to college and by partnering with the Community Foundation, we’re assured that this fund will help us provide support for years to come.”

“Investing in youth and helping organizations and individuals leave a lasting legacy is at the forefront of what we do here at the Community Foundation,” said Doug Wilson, President, Community Foundation.  “We’re excited to be partnering with LORA.  By supporting locally-owned businesses, we are investing in the future of the community and the future of our youth.”

If you are interested in supporting this scholarship fund, gifts can be made to the Community Foundation-LORA Scholarship Fund.
