Berlin Coffee House to Host Volunteer Cafe
January 5, 2010
Individuals interested in learning about opportunities to volunteer for nonprofit organizations in Northern Worcester County will get the latest information available at a ShoreCAN Volunteer Café on Wednesday, Jan. 13th from 5-7 p.m. at the Berlin Coffee House.
The event is being organized by the ShoreCAN Volunteer Center which is sponsored by the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore. The purpose of the Volunteer Café is to create an opportunity to match community volunteers with local nonprofit organizations that need their help.
Anyone attending the Volunteer Café will enjoy drinks, fellowship, and learn about current opportunities to help the community, said Jon Fitzsimmons, ShoreCAN Volunteer Center Coordinator.
"ShoreCAN is like an e-Harmony for volunteers," Fitzsimmons said. "Anyone looking to match their interest with a local nonprofit is very likely to find just the right fit." Over 60 nonprofit organizations have registered their volunteer opportunities on the Community Foundation’s ShoreCAN website, www.shorecan.org.
The ShoreCAN Volunteer Center actively connects individuals who want to volunteer with nonprofit organizations who offer meaningful opportunities to serve. Individuals seeking volunteer opportunities and local nonprofit organizations needing volunteers are encouraged to attend the ShoreCAN Volunteer Café, or visit www.shorecan.org, or call the Community Foundation at 410-742-9911 to learn more.
