Community Experience Partership
The ShoreCAN Volunteer Center was supported in part by funding through
the Community Experience Partnership of the Atlantic Philanthropies.

the Community Experience Partnership of the Atlantic Philanthropies.

The Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore is proud to be one of 30 community foundations selected to participate in The Community Experience Partnership. This initiative of The Atlantic Philanthropies aims to invest in community foundations to unleash the potential of millions of baby boomers as they enter their sixties.
By leveraging the established network of U.S. community foundations and the experience of other grantees, The Atlantic Philanthropies seeked to engage older Americans in the work of community improvement and social change. Presenting a unique leadership opportunity for progressive community foundations, the Community Experience Partnership initiative helped these organizations lead the charge in deploying the resources of boomer experience for the good of their communities.
The first phase of this program, a Community Assessment, was completed through a local partnership with BEACON at Salisbury University and MAC, Inc., the Area Agency on Aging. A copy can be found here.
In the second phase, CFES focused on volunteerism and supporting agencies as they developed more effective recruitment strategies for the 50+ population and created compelling opportunities for people who want to contribute their time, talent and skills. In September 2009 CFES became the new home of the ShoreCAN Volunteer Center which became an additional resource for bringing together people who care with causes that matter.
