Two grants have been distributed to nonprofit organizations from the Jeffrey P. Marx Memorial Fund founded at CFES. Because of Jeff's love of animals $3,335 was granted to Golden Retriever Rescue Education and Training (GRREAT), and $6,330 to the Worcester County Humane Society. Golden Retriever Rescue Education and Training Website Worcester County Humane Society Website A $3,000 Excellence In Education Grant was awarded to the Pinehurst Elementary School's playground project which broke ground in late October. Volunteers have raised over $70,000 for new playground equipment that will be more accessible to students with special needs. Additional contributions totaling $10,000 to $15,000 are needed to cover the cost of the new playground. Pinehurst Elementary School Website Two grants were awarded to the Village of Hope, a nonprofit organization that provides shelter and life training for homeless women and children. A Technical Mini-Grant of $688 was awarded for computer equipment. A $2,000 Help Your Neighbor Grant was also received to provide patients at the VOH Clinic with medications and medical supplies they may not otherwise afford. Village of Hope Program Website The Worcester County Library system has been awarded a $2,905 Community Needs Program grant to implement a digital storytelling program that will focus on local history and culture that highlights local storytellers.
